The Anachronist is a series of portraits investigating the friction between historical permanence and the transience of the contemporary human condition. Set in Rome, within the monumental halls of Palazzo Altemps and Palazzo Braschi, the series portrays the visual collision between classical statuary heritage and the solitary figure of a young boy, encased in vintage diving gear and space helmets, creating a surreal and ironic atmosphere.
In these spaces, the young protagonist acts as an extraterrestrial observer of his own heritage. The helmet serves simultaneously as a lens and a barrier: a symbol of the technological mediation that allows us to study the past while isolating us from a direct, tactile contact with it. Through the golden reflections of the visors mirroring eternal marble, the project explores the sense of alienation felt by new generations within their own culture, transforming the museum into a sci-fi environment where time ceases to be linear.
